Allan Shaw

14u Coach

The baseball journey of Coach Allan Shaw began as a youth in Tacoma Metro Parks and Lakewood Baseball Club.  He spent many summers developing as a true utility player- excelling in the middle infield and on the mound.  He developed his passion for baserunning at this time.

Moving into middle school at Mann Jr. High, he lettered all three years and added the toolbox of catcher his final year.  He served as a team captain on the baseball team, also playing football and wrestling.

Moving into high school, Allan continued as a multi-sport athlete, though baseball was really his passion.  Making Varsity as a bench player his sophomore year, he excelled on the base paths, starting as a courtesy runner and expanding that into a starting outfielder spot on a senior-laden team.  He also served as a starting pitcher and backup catcher/infielder.

During his junior year, Allan truly shined.  Stepping in for the injured CF, Allan started the majority of the year in center.  Allan led the league in SBs.  He also helped end a long playout drought for Lakes High School.  His senior year, he provided leadership and a stronger lineup presence.  He primarily played 3B and the OF, with a few pitching performances.

Allan then began his coaching career, working with youth through the YMCA, Metro Parks and LBC, before coming over to TBC in the 2022 off-season.

Allan's dedication to the game and his players has been evident throughout his coaching career. His emphasis on fundamentals and baserunning has been central to his coaching style and the remarkable success he has achieved. His passion for baseball has undoubtedly been a significant factor in shaping him into the successful coach he is today.
