Nico Marchio

Nico Marchio has built a strong reputation as one of the most tactically advanced young coaches in Washington State, combining elite baseball IQ with a proven ability to make in-game adjustments that consistently put his teams in position to win.

Raised in University Place, Washington, Nico developed his love for the game early, quickly establishing himself as both an ace pitcher and a dynamic speed player. He played his early club baseball with the Lakewood Baseball Club before moving on to the U.P. Vikings during his middle school years, where his competitive edge and leadership began to stand out.

At Curtis High School, Nico continued to excel as the team’s leadoff hitter and co-captain. He played a key role in leading the program to the postseason and helping establish a consistent playoff presence, earning respect as both a competitor and a leader. He tied the state record for stolen bases in the 4A Spsl.

Following high school, Nico chose to remain local and attend Saint Martin’s University a NCAA Division 2 University, where he majored in Management and Marketing and played four years as an outfielder. His collegiate experience further shaped his understanding of the game from a strategic and developmental standpoint.

After completing his playing career, Nico transitioned into coaching, beginning as an assistant coach with the Reality 18U program before taking over as head coach. Under his leadership, the team captured multiple championships and finished in the top 10 statewide rankings. He also coached with All Things Baseball, leading the Angels Premier team to their first monumental Championship in 2022.

Nico has been coaching with Tacoma Baseball Club since 2023 and is entering his fourth season with the organization. During his time at TBC, his teams have dominated at the club level, capturing seven tournament championships and six runner-up finishes. His year-by-year results reflect consistent growth and competitive excellence: a 21-28-1 season in 2023, a 28-14 record in 2024, and a 32-12 record in 2025, with the 2025 team competing primarily at the 18U level despite being a 16U roster.

What separates Coach Marchio is his elite tactical ability. Few coaches in the state consistently adjust lineups, pitching usage, defensive alignments, and game strategy in real time as effectively as he does. His teams are known for playing smart, aggressive baseball built on preparation, situational awareness, and execution under pressure.

In addition to his club success, Nico has coached at multiple levels, including Stadium High School(JV head coach and varsity assistant coach), Curtis High School varsity assistant coach (and JV head coach), and Mason Middle School, where he led the program to back to back undefeated league championships. He has also coached at the national level with the NW National Team, competing in events in Minnesota and Las Vegas.

Beyond team coaching, Nico serves as a professional hitting and outfield instructor at the Mariners Training Facility in Tacoma, continuing to refine players’ offensive approach, defensive efficiency, and baserunning instincts.

Coach Marchio’s success is rooted in accountability, tactical discipline, and an advanced understanding of how to win games over the course of a season. His impact on players and programs continues to grow, and his results speak for themselves.
